Why does our skin age?
Aging is a dynamic process that occurs in all living things. Occurs continuously in all organs of the body, without our knowing it, including the skin organ.
The aging process there are basically 2 types:
- Process Intrinstik (true aging process), which is caused by a factor of age, genetic and hormonal.
- Process Extrinsic (premature aging), caused by environmental factors and sunlight.
with age, especially since the age of 25 years old, began a decline in hormone levels in the body, such as testosterone, estrogen hormon.Hormon growth is the most intrinsic factors play a role in the aging process. whereas extrinsic factors that most contribute to the process of aging is sunlight, especially ultra-violet A and B. Sunlight touches the skin consisting of visible light (visible light) 400-700 nm, ultra-violet A 320-400nm, ultra-violet B 290-320 nm, and infra red rays.
Ultra-violet rays on our skin that it will reduce the number of existing anti-oxidants in our skin. Anti-oxidants are substances that capture free radicals, which cause damage to the cell (DNA, RNA and cell membrane protein) Substance natural antioxidants (superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxide) acts as the giver of protection by catching free radicals formed in the skin .
Ultraviolet will enhance MMP (matrix metalloproteinase) in our skin. Which include MMP is Collagenase that destroys collagen, hyaluronidase destroy hyaluronat, and elastase that destroys elastin.
Sometimes people forget that the aging process has been going on since the age of 25 years old, which according to the classification of degrees Glogau Wrinkle called “I”. This is because collagen declines 1-2% per year.
Wrinkles can be basically divided into 2, which is dynamic and fine. sometimes referred to as dynamic wrinkle or muscle. This happens because the muscles relax. While fine wrinkle occurs because the reduction of collagen fibers in the dermis layer. sometimes referred to as aging wrinkle dermis. thus none of us can escape the aging process, so that inevitably, all will be old, including our skin.
